ŞABAN TURGUT: RİZE PROVINCE EXPORTS OVER 200 MILLION DOLLARS

In 2021, exports from Rize province amounted to 207,348,185 dollars and there was a 26 pct increase in exports compared to the previous year.

While copper ore, one of the mining products, is in the first place in exports from 25 sectors from the Rize province, fish that is mostly exported to the Russian Federation is in the second place and tea is in the third place. Of the total exports from Rize province, 54 pct consists of export of mining products and 21 pct of fish exports to the Russian Federation.

The province of Rize ranks first in the export of trout and Turkish salmon from Turkey to the Russian Federation and the export of surgical disposable protective clothing produced in Rize and exported to 7 different countries has reached a significant volume.

Şaban Turgut, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), who made evaluations on the subject, emphasized the importance of exporting from Rize province to 55 different countries and exceeding the 200 Million dollars limit again in 2021 with a high rate of increase trend.

Turgut stated that the number of exporters in Rize, which has succeeded in exporting foodstuffs even to China, is rising every year and that it is a great success to expand the diversity of countries in exports, apart from the neighboring countries.

Pointing out that tea was exported from Rize province to 32 different countries in the amount of 9,873,843 dollars for 3,278 tonnes in 2021, Turgut added, “60 pct of the total tea exports in Turkey and 50 pct in terms of value were carried out by companies operating in the province of Rize.”
