A field day event was held in Dikili district of İzmir province with the aim of promoting and popularizing the use of subsurface drip irrigation system in cotton.
The “Underground Drip Irrigation System” of the “Cottons are Drip Irrigated in Dikili” project, which is one of the 35 projects implemented in Izmir province with the slogan of Traces of 35 in Agriculture and the cotton harvest field day event were held in the district of Dikili.
Dikili District Governor Alper Faruk Güngör, İzmir Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director Mustafa Özen, District Agriculture and Forestry Managers, Chamber Presidents, institution managers, political party representatives, heads of villages and producers attended the event.
Speaking at the event, İzmir Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Mustafa Özen, emphasized that the correct and conscious use of soil and water resources in increasing agricultural production gains importance every day when the drought is taken into account.
Özen said, “Climate is the main factor that determines agricultural production. Considering the drought we are in, we consider this project as a very important one. In terms of agriculture, the most important problem that we will face in our future is drought.”
“We have to take new measures to combat this. We also need to take measures such as changes in our crop production pattern and irrigation systems,” Özen added…
