OSMAN ÖZ: DEMAND FOR DRIED FRUITS CONTINUES TO RISE

The 2021 INC 3D Online Conference, held by the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC), on May 25-27, has been completed. The conference brought together more than 1,300 industry professionals in the dried fruit and nut industry from more than 70 countries of the world.

More than 70 expert speakers spearheaded discussions on the industry, addressing topics such as sustainability, yield forecasts, supply and demand, the benefits of dried and unshelled fruits to human health, and efforts to increase consumption.

The main agenda is sustainability and climate change…

Osman Öz, Chairman of the Turkish Dried Fruit Exporters’ Associations Sector Board, said that the conference included highly informative working group sessions for each product under the umbrella of INC, and noted that next year’s yield forecasts, supply and demand, consumption and the impact of Covid-19 on the nut and dried fruit industry.

Osman Öz said, “Demand for products across the entire industry continues to climb and there is an effort to sustain consumption. Despite the many challenges that have arisen during the COVID-19 pandemic, opportunities have emerged such as increased snacking, ingredient-based use, home cooking and a greater focus on healthy foods.”

“The working groups also shared detailed information about the increasing importance of sustainability and the efforts made by the sector to increase sustainable activities. Industry experts discussed the impact of climate change on products, as well as transportation and logistics challenges,” Osman Öz added…
