In Erzurum (an Eastern Anatolian province of Turkey) where agriculture and animal husbandry is widespread with its fertile pastures, the number of livestock has increased with the support given to breeders and farmers in recent years.
In the province, which is one of the important livestock regions of the country in terms of 11 percent pasture land and livestock and is described as a “meat warehouse”, fattening is becoming more widespread with the feed, seed and grant supports of the Governor’s Office and the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Osman Akar said that Erzurum is the province with the second highest number of animal in Turkey, especially in cattle.
Osman Akar said, “We are also in a position of increasing trend in ovine breeding in Erzurum province.”
