NİĞDE PROVINCE RANKS THIRD IN APPLE PRODUCTION!

Apple production in Niğde province, one of Turkey’s most important apple production centres, has increased by 25 percent in the last 5 years.

Apple, whose harvest continues, is expected to yield approximately 500 thousand tonnes from 230 thousand decares this year.

In the province, which ranks third in apple production across Turkey, 400 thousand 95 tonnes in 2016, 327 thousand 847 tonnes in 2017, 429 thousand 36 tonnes in 2018, 438 thousand 327 tonnes in 2019 and 503 thousand 330 tonnes in 2020. apples were produced.

Apple production has increased by about 25 percent in the last 5 years across the region.

Niğde Governor Yılmaz Şimşek said that the provincial economy is generally based on agriculture.

Stating that Niğde province, which stands out with its potato production, is also one of the apple production centres, Şimşek said, “Approximately 500 thousand tonnes of apple harvest is expected in the region this year. Apples are exported from Niğde to many countries, especially the Middle East too.”
