Water Efficiency Mobilisation continues with the principle of ‘zero loss in water’. A National Water Board was established within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for Türkiye’s water resources, which are expected to decrease by 20-30 per cent by 2100. The Board will take important decisions to prevent water waste. In this context, if 8 per cent savings are achieved, the 1-year water need of a city of 10 million people will be met.
In Türkiye, which is under water stress, water resources are expected to fall by 20-30 per cent by 2100. Today, the loss rate in drinking-use water is 33 per cent. Saving 8 per cent at this rate meets the 1-year water need of a city of 10 million people.
2050 TABLE IN WATER…
Türkiye’s annual usable water potential is approximately 112 billion cubic metres. Agricultural irrigation covers 77 per cent of total water consumption. Although the annual amount of water per capita is 1313 cubic metres, this amount is expected to diminish to 1069 cubic metres by 2050 due to climate change and population growth. While the daily water consumption per capita in the country is in the range of 210-220 litres, it is aimed to reduce this amount to 100 litres in 2050 within the framework of saving measures…
