“Wholesale Plum and Cherry Bazaar for Mendegümü” opens on June 1…
Ödemiş (a district of İzmir province) Municipality creates a wholesale market for the export products plum and cherry grown in five neighborhoods in the Mendegüme region. The wholesale market, which will bring producers together with traders in Hamam, Demirdere, Küçükören, Güney and Çayır villages, will start serving on June 1st.
Ödemiş Municipality, which continues to support producers for the sustainability of agricultural production in Ödemiş region, sets up a wholesale market for uniquely beautiful cherries and plums grown in Hamam, Demirdere, Küçükören, Güney and Çayır villages. The wholesale market for cherries and plums exported to many countries will bring the producer together with the trader.
Eriş: “An exemplary partnership”
Ödemiş Mayor Mehmet Eriş, who examined the works for Mendegüme Wholesale Plum and Cherry Market together with the producers and headmen of Hamam, Demirdere, Küçükören, Güney and Çayır villages. Eriş said, “There is demand mainly from European countries. Our wholesale market will also be an important meeting point in terms of exports. We will improve this market further over time.”

Eriş said that they will continue to be with the producer together with İzmir Metropolitan Municipality for the production to improve in the future. Stating that Ödemiş is a heaven on earth with its air, water and soil from Bozdağlar to Aydın Mountains, Eriş noted, “As the local government, we will continue to put our hands under the stone in order to ensure sustainable production in these precious soils and to get the value of the labour of the producer. Together with our Metropolitan Mayor of İzmir, Tunç Soyer, we will be with our producers who shed sweat for agriculture and animal husbandry in our region even in these difficult days. Our production is our future. ”
