MEHMET CIRAV: HAZELNUT EXPORTS REACHED 1.7 BILLION DOLLARS IN 9 MONTHS

Between September 1, 2021 and May 31, 2022, covering the 9-month period of our country’s 2021/2022 hazelnut export season, 1 billion 700 million 495 560 dollars of hazelnuts were exported in return for 287 thousand 934 tonnes. There was an increase of 6 percent in the value amount.

Mehmet Cirav, Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB) Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee, made evaluations on the subject and stated that hazelnut exports were realized to 123 countries in the 9-month period of the 2021/2022 season.

He underlined that the exports soared by 25 percent in quantity and 6 percent in value compared to the previous season. Mentioning that nearly 50 percent of hazelnut exports are made to Germany and Italy, Cirav noted that Europe is the biggest buyer in hazelnut exports, as in every period.

Pointing out that hazelnut exports from Trabzon province in the 9-month period of the 2021/2022 hazelnut export season, Cirav said, “Trabzon, the centre of hazelnut exports, exported 97 thousand 773 tons of hazelnuts to 61 countries, worth 536 million 947 thousand 539 dollars. Thus 32 percent of the total hazelnut export has been realized from Trabzon region.”
