IZMIR COMMODITY EXCHANGE DELEGATION PARTICIPATED IN THE 6TH MEDITERRANEAN COTTON ROAD…

The sixth Mediterranean Cotton Road event, which was organised this year to bring together cotton sector stakeholders, was held on Monday, 20 November 2023 in Thessaloniki, Greece, in cooperation with the Izmir Commodity Exchange, the Greek Cotton Association and the Spanish National Cotton Centre, with the participation of cotton sector representatives from Mediterranean countries, especially Türkiye, Spain, Egypt and Greece.

The event was also attended by Serkan Gedik, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Thessaloniki and Ahmet Erdoğan, Commercial Attaché of the Republic of Türkiye.

Representing Izmir Commodity Exchange, Bülent Uçak, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Şeref İyiuyarlar, Member of the Board of Directors, Tolga Uskuç, Member of the Assembly, Barış Kocagöz, Past Chairman of the Assembly and Chairman of the Wholesale Trade of Textile Fibres, Dr. Müge Ekizoğlu, General Manager of İZLADAŞ (Izmir Licensed Warehousing Inc.) and Research and Market Development Director Dr. Kenan Keskinkılıç attended the event.

At the event, Barış Kocagöz, Past Chairman of the Assembly of Izmir Commodity Exchange, made an opening speech and Bülent Uçak, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, also made a presentation on the quality of Aegean Region cotton.

Presentations were also made by sector representatives from different Mediterranean countries on current developments and forecasts on cotton markets, the main principles of the new EU common agricultural policy and certification programmes in Greek cotton production.
