Gülle said, “There is an increase of 32 percent in this field compared to last year. The exports of olive oil industry in the first 11 months of the year soared by 12 percent compared to the previous year and reached 270 million dollars. The top 3 countries to which we export the most were the USA with 52 million dollars, Germany with 38 million dollars and Iraq with 28 million dollars. Global climate change affects Spain, Italy and Greece, which have been producing the most for the last 10 years. In certain regions, there are have and have-not years any more. In our country, this gap is getting narrower at the point of production. This is a very promising development.”

“We are targeting 50 thousand tonnes in our olive oil exports this year”

Gülle explained that Spain is in the first place with 1 million 403 thousand tonnes of production, Italy is in the second place with 371 thousand tonnes and Turkey is in the third place after these countries in production.

“We are targeting 50 thousand tonnes in our olive oil exports this year. We want our exporters to turn to packaged and branded exports instead of bulk olive oil exports as much as possible. Turkey has outperformed markets such as Italy and Greece in the number of trees planted. We need to transform this wealth into added value,” Gülle added…
