ISA COSKUN: WE SHOULD SURPASS THE EXPORT AMOUNT OF 500 HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS IN DAIRY PRODUCTS

Chair of SETBIR İsa Coşkun said, “Turkiye ranks 10th in terms of production value in agriculture. But we cannot achieve the same points in efficiency.”

Making evaluations on the dairy sector, Turkish Dairy, Meat, Food Industrialists’ and Producers’ Association (SETBIR) Chairman of the Board, İsa Coşkun, stated that although Turkiye has come a long way in the development of milk and dairy products, there is still a long way to go.

“But we still have a long way to go. In export, that is, where you are in milk in the global environment is important. This is very important for competition. Being a great actor requires this,” Coşkun noted.

“We cannot reach the same point in efficiency”

“In 2021, there is an export item of close to 500 million dollars in milk and dairy products. Of course, this is an important number, but when we look at other countries, the numbers in those countries are much higher. The Netherlands is over 7 billion euros. No need to count France. Countries such as the USA, New Zealand, Australia are at very different points. Therefore, it will be an important point for us to produce not only in order to meet the needs of consumers, but also on a global scale and by increasing the quality, both in terms of efficiency. This will inevitably reduce costs in the medium and long term,” Coşkun added.

“Because Turkiye actually ranks 10th in terms of production value in terms of numerical value in agricultural production. But we cannot achieve the same points in efficiency. Because efficiency is extremely important. Quality is extremely important in milk and dairy products. Food safety is extremely important. When we produce in EU standards, you can easily export to all over the world,” Coşkun concluded…
