2022 target of 200 million dollars in peach and nectarine exports…
Turkiye, which is the second in the world in peach and nectarine exports with an export of 170 million dollars in 2021, aims to be the world leader.
Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association (EYMSİB), which declared 2022 as the “Year of Combating Pesticides”, held a “Sectoral Evaluation Meeting” in İzmir’s Selçuk district, one of the leading regions in the country’s peach production.
Peach, pomegranate, tangerine and quince producers, middlemen, brokers and exporters attended the meeting held at the Selçuk District Governorship Meeting Hall.
Speaking at the meeting, Aegean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters’ Association Chairperson Hayrettin Uçak said, “Selçuk is one of the most important places in the Aegean Region in terms of both production and export with its crop variety and as EYMSİB, we attach great importance to this region.”
“Our target in peach and nectarine exports is 200 million dollars”
Informing that Turkiye has an annual foreign exchange income of 800 million dollars from the export of pomegranates, peaches, nectarines, tangerines and quinces, Uçak added, “We are the second largest exporter in the world, after Spain, with an annual export of 170 million dollars, especially in peaches and nectarines. Our goal is to increase our peach and nectarine exports to 200 million dollars this year.”
