Stating that Türkiye is the third in the world after China and Italy with an annual peach production of 1 million 76 thousand tonnes, Hayrettin Uçak, Head of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association (EYMSİB) said, “According to 2023 data, we are the second in the world after Spain in peach and nectarine exports. Izmir is one of the important centres in peach production. Our producers are reaping the rewards of a year’s labour. They start harvesting at 04:00 in the morning. I wish our producers, traders and exporters a season in which their labour pays off.”
Russia showed its love for Turkish peaches this year…
“Türkiye exported peaches and nectarines to 59 countries between 1 January – 12 June 2024, while Russia showed its love for Turkish peaches and nectarines this year with a demand of 75 million dollars. The most significant increase in peach and nectarine exports was to Iraq. Our peach and nectarine exports to Iraq, which were 3.7 million dollars in 2023, rose to 27.4 million dollars with a record 640 percent spike,” Uçak added.
“Romania ranked third with a demand of 6.2 million dollars worth of peaches and nectarines from our country, while we managed to send 4.2 million dollars worth of peaches and nectarines to Ukraine and 2.3 million dollars worth of peaches and nectarines to Belarus,” Uçak concluded…
