HAYRETTİN UÇAK: EXPORT JOURNEY OF SEEDLESS SUPERIOR GRAPES STARTED

The export journey of Superior Seedless grapes, one of the important export products of the Aegean Region, started on 16 July 2021. Superior Seedless grape is especially popular with diabetes patients due to its low sugar content and tart taste.

Superior Seedless grape brought 6.6 million dollars foreign currency to Turkey with an increase of 74 percent in 2020. Turkey’s exports of fresh table grapes in 2020, on the other hand, increased by 5 percent in total from 150 million dollars to 158 million dollars.

Stating that the Superior Seedless grape is one of the important export crops of the Aegean Region, Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association (EYMSİB) Chairperson Hayrettin Uçak said, “The export date of Superior Seedless Variety Table Grape was determined as july 16, 2021 by the Commission for Determining the Harvest and Export Dates of Alaşehir, Salihli, Sarıgöl districts of Manisa province and Buldan of Denizli province.”

Informing that Turkey exported 3.8 million dollars of Superior Seedless grapes in 2019, Uçak explained, “In 2020, it increased to 6.6 million dollars with an increase of 74 percent. It became the most exported fresh grape variety after Sultani Seedless grapes and Red Globe grapes. It is a product that can be described as early fruit among the grape varieties produced in Turkey. It ripens on average 15 days earlier than Sultani fresh grapes, which is the leader in table grape exports. It offers Turkish grape exporters the opportunity to enter the market 15 days earlier.”

“By the way Superior Seedless grape is mostly preferred by diabetes patients. We aim to maintain the level of last year in exports, even though there are decreases in the yield of this year,” Uçak added…
