National Hazelnut Council (UFK) President Hamza Bölük said that 205 thousand tonnes of hazelnuts were sold in the 8-month period of the 2023-2024 export season from Türkiye. Bölük stated that they aim to continue exports and increase income.
Hamza Bölük, who is also the President of Giresun Commodity Exchange, announced that the export season, which started on 1 September 2023, will end on 31 August 2024.
Underlining that 294 thousand tonnes of products were sent to various countries last season, Bölük said, “We expect an export close to it this year. As of April 21, 205 thousand tonnes of hazelnuts were sold. We hope that 80-85 thousand tonnes of exports will take place in the following period. I think that 1.8-2 billion dollars of income will be provided in return for exports.”
Bölük also emphasised that Turkish exporters aim to sell more hazelnuts and boost the amount of income obtained accordingly and added, “This season, the export process continues as expected. We hope that our exports and income will rise. Our work and initiatives continue in order to ensure this.”

Bölük reported that they closely follow the developments in the chocolate sector due to the hike in cocoa prices.

With the hike in cocoa price, it leads to a serious rise in chocolate prices. This rise reduces the consumption of chocolate. After all, trade creates a balance in supply and demand. When the price is high, consumption decreases. This situation negatively affects our exports.”
