HALUK OKUTUR: CEREAL EXPORTS SURGED BY 17 PERCENT IN 7 MONTHS

Cereal exports surged by 17 percent in 7 months…

Haluk Okutur, Chairperson of the Board of İHBİR, said that İHBİR’s exports in the first 7 months of 2021, covering the January-July period, amounted to 1 billion 289 million dollars with an increase of 16.97 percent.

In the statement made by the Istanbul Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (İHBİR), Okutur said, “In July, we realized an export of 652.8 million dollars with a rise of 10.85 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Our exports to the USA, which is among the 164 countries we made, rose by 28.79 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, our exports to Iraq increased by 38.38 percent and our exports to Venezuela surged by 198.76 percent on value basis in the month of July. Our Association realized an export of 1 billion 289 million 912 thousand dollars with a rise of 16.97 percent.”

“SUGAR AND SUGARY PRODUCTS EXPORT INCREASED”

Stating that İHBİR exported 148 million dollars in July, Okutur noted, “Our sugar and sugary products exports went up by 14.12 percent on a value basis in July and took their place among the product groups to which the most exports were made.”

Pointing out about the fairs that continue despite the epidemic and new epidemics, Okutur explained, “Our fairs, which we could not achieve last year due to the pandemic, started to take place this year. We had fairs in Russia and the USA in our 2021 calendar, we successfully completed all of them. Next is Mexico, Germany, Russia, Japan, the USA and the Colombia.”

“We, as İHBİR, organize the National Participation Organization of these fairs. Our members are also eagerly waiting to participate in the fairs, showing great interest. Fairs are a great advantage, participants see our products and understand their quality,” Okutur added…
