“Giresun Tombul Hazelnut”, “Giresun Sivri Hazelnut” and “Giresun Karası” hazelnuts have been taken under protection by the Association of Hazelnut Agricultural Sales Cooperatives (FİSKOBİRLİK) by registering the Geographical Indication (GI).
The company owners and their representatives, who received an authorization certificate through the Giresun Quality Hazelnuts Inspection Authority Executive Board established under the roof of FİSKOBİRLİK, came together.
After drawing attention to the importance of Geographical Indication Registration, Lütfi Bayraktar, Chairman of FİSKOBİRLİK, stated that Giresun quality hazelnuts are registered with Geographical Indication and Giresun Quality Hazelnuts, which are the brand value of the producers and Giresun, are taken under protection by FİSKOBİRLİK.
Emphasizing that Giresun quality hazelnuts processed in Giresun Integrated Facilities have taken their place on the shelves with geographical indications since last year, Bayraktar noted, “The registration process of our application for ‘Giresun Hazelnut Paste’ will be completed in the coming days and thus FİSKOBİRLİK branded hazelnut paste obtained from Giresun Quality Hazelnuts will be produced with Geographical Indication.”
Explaining that consumers can buy products with Geographical Indications with peace of mind, Bayraktar added, “The brand value of both producers, consumers and Giresun Quality Hazelnuts is protected.”
