FRESH FRUIT AND VEG EXPORTS FROM ADANA, HATAY AND MERSİN PROVINCES INCREASE…

According to the information compiled from the data of the Mediterranean Exporters’ Association (AKIB), exports of fresh fruits and vegetables from 3 provinces of the Eastern Mediterranean in 7 months of the year increased by 18.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Mersin, Hatay and Adana, which sold 484 million 184 thousand dollars of products abroad in 7 months last year, signed exports of 574 million 935 thousand dollars this year.

In January-July period, when taken into consideration that Turkey’s total exports of fresh fruit and vegetables realized as 1 billion 364 million level, 42 percent of those sales were carried out by the three provinces of the eastern Mediterranean.

During this period, 294 million 630 thousand dollars of fresh fruit and vegetables were exported from Mersin, 224 million 223 thousand dollars from Hatay and 56 million 82 thousand dollars from Adana.

“Mersin, Hatay and Adana provinces have borne our exports”

Chairman of Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Exporters’ Association Nejdat sin said that Turkey made, in January-July period of this year, 1 billion 364 million dollars export fresh fruit and vegetables.

Emphasizing that the Eastern Mediterranean plays an important role in this export, Sin added:

“Mersin, Hatay and Adana provinces have borne our sectoral exports so far. We realized 42 percent of the fresh fruit and vegetable exports of our country from the eastern Mediterranean. Despite the diffiulties posed by Covid-19 in the global trade, Turkey has managed to continue to increase its fresh fruit and vegetable exports.”
