FOREIGN TRADE SURPLUS IN FOOD AND AGRICULTURE CONTINUES TO FALL!

According to the Fedaration of Food and Drink Industry Associations of Türkiye (TGDF) Digital Data Panel prepared by Agrimetre, based on the Foreign Trade Data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in the first 9 months of 2022, the agriculture, food and beverage industry realized exports of 17.9 billion dollars and imports of 15.5 billion dollars.

In the first 9 months of 2022, the sector’s foreign trade surplus decreased by 30.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to the foreign trade data published within the framework of the Special Trade System (ÖTS), in the first 9 months of 2022, exports soared by 17.1% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 17.92 billion dollars, while imports increased by 31.4% and reached 15.47 billion dollars.

In September 2022, the monthly export value, which rose by 8.7% compared to the same month of the previous year, was realized as 2.16 billion dollars, while imports rose by 13.9% to 1.68 billion dollars.

Foreign trade surplus lagged behind last year…

Although the sector maintained its net exporter position throughout the year, it lagged behind last year’s foreign trade surplus in the third quarter of the year. In the first 9 months of 2022, foreign trade surplus decreased by 30.4% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 2.45 billion dollars.

The unit export value increased by 12.1% in the first 9 months of 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year and became 1,196 dollars/tonne. Import unit value, on the other hand, increased by 17.7% compared to the previous year and reached 698 dollars/tonne.
