Bekir Pakdemirli, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, announced that they will make support payments of 23 billion liras to farmers in 2021.
Minister Pakdemirli, who made a presentation on the budget of his ministry at the Parliament’s Plan and Budget Committee, said, “We did not experience any problems with food supply during the pandemic process. Thank God we did not see the market scenery abroad in our country due to our orientation of the retail chains.”
“We continued our follow-up to avoid happening. I would like to remind that we paid 84 percent of the agricultural support, 18.4 billion liras have been paid to farmers in this process,” Pakdemirli added.
Pointing out that they transferred the sales of ethyl alcohol in sugar factories to the production of cologne and disinfectant, Minister Pakdemirli noted, “We have made a total support payment of 50 billion TL from 2018 to October 2020. In 2021, we will support our producers with an additional payment of 1 billion TL along with a total of 23 billion TL.”
