“EXPORTS OF FISHERIES AND ANIMAL PRODUCTS EXCEED 1.5 BILLION DOLLARS”

Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association boosted its exports of 110 million dollars in July 2021 to 132 million dollars with a spike of 20 percent in July 2022 and also boosted its exports to 1 billion 500 million dollars with a spike of 29 percent in the last 1-year period.

Reminding that the Turkish aquaculture and animal products industry exceeded its 2023 export target of 3.5 billion dollars in February 2022, Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association Chairperson Bedri Girit said, “As the Turkish aquaculture and animal products sector, which achieved its 2023 target two years ago, we set it as 3.8 billion dollars for the end of 2022 and 4.2 billion dollars for the end of 2023. Our aquaculture exports accounted for 1 billion 23 million dollars of our record of 1.5 billion dollars in the last 1-year period. We made 66 percent of Turkiye’s 1 billion 548 million dollars of aquaculture exports in the last year from the Aegean Region.”

“In the last year, we have increased our average export price of fishery products from 5.7 dollars to 6.6 dollars. Breeding in Turkiye has grown a lot in the last 20 years. This is also reflected in our export figures. The Aegean Region is also the leading region at this point. Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, which was in the last place in exports within the scope of Aegean Exporters’ Association (EİB) in 1980, is now the leader in food and the second among all sectors with this development,” Girit added…
