Kilis Olive Research and Development Association (KİZADER) President and 7 Aralık (December) University Faculty of Agriculture Dean Professor Dr. Nazım Şekeroğlu said that the studies on “Kilis Olive Oil” started to bear fruit and that the prices of olive oil doubled.
Şekeroğlu stated that the producer’s face laughed and said, “The studies on Kilis Olive Oil started to bear fruit.”
Explaining that works carried out for raising the awareness of the farmer along with the developments in olive and olive oil production, Dr. Şekeroğlu noted, “As well as the public and private organizations about the promotion of ‘Kilis Olive Oil’, the efforts of the İpekyolu Development Agency and local NGOs have started to bear fruit.”
Underlining that they constantly inform the producers about the protection, improvement and maintenance of Kilis oily olive oil trees, Dr. Şekeroğlu added, “With the support of public institutions and organizations, the olive oil facilities in the region will be rehabilitated, modernized, besides with trained technical staff in the factories and higher quality and sustainable olive oil production will be expanded in the coming years.”
“Meanwhile the number of local olive oil brands and boutique businesses in Kilis province is increasing day by day. Furthermore these developments will gain more momentum with the acquisition of geographical indications,” Dr. Şekeroğlu concluded…
