Halil İbrahim Balcı, President of the Turkish Bakers’ Federation, said that the price of bread per kilo in Turkiye will not exceed 20 TL.
The “Professional Evaluation and Consultation Meeting” was held in a private hotel in Black Sea’s coast city Samsun by the Turkish Bakers’ Federation with the participation of the heads of chambers in Turkiye.
At the meeting, the latest developments in wheat, TMO (Turkish Grain Board) applications and the problems of the sector were discussed.
President of the Turkish Bakers’ Federation Halil İbrahim Balcı, who took the floor later, said, “Bread prices were the agenda last week and this week. In February, it was said that the price of bread will be 5-6 liras, 10 liras, so the citizens will not have purchasing power to buy bread. These do not reflect reality in the current process. In mid-June, the maximum kg price of bread is 20 TL throughout the country and 200 grams of bread in general are sold for 4 TL.”
“Therefore, we have nullified the February discourse. With the sacrifices of the bakers and the sensitivity of the relevant ministries, flour support will continue with the instruction of our President in the last month, that’s why we find the opportunity to sell the bread for 4 TL,” he added…
