BLUEBERRY EXPORTS STARTED FROM ANTALYA TO HONG KONG…

“Blueberry” exports started from Antalya to Hong Kong.

Gökhan Karaca, Antalya Deputy Director of Provincial Agriculture and Forestry, said that they are carrying out studies to increase product diversity in Antalya province, which is also an agricultural region.

Emphasizing that they have made a significant progress in the production of blueberries, Karaca stated, “Blueberry is a trending fruit in the world and its export value is very high. It has antioxidant features. It is a fruit that can be grown in pots without being very attached to the soil. Antalya province is a very convenient place to produce blueberry.”

Indicating that with the grants of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the support of the Provincial Directorate, Karaca noted that the producers have contributed in many areas such as cold storage and packaging facility, Karaca also added that a company exported the blueberries grown in pots.

67.7 tons of blueberries exported last year…

Pointing out that blueberries find buyers at a high price in the world market, Karaca concluded:
“We want the production to continue and develop so we are working on this issue. We are expanding the blueberry product, which has an export value, has a high added value and finds a high price buyer in the world markets, also in Antalya. After Germany, Dubai, Sweden, Norway and Qatar, we go to Hong Kong. We started the export of blueberry in 2007. Last year we exported 67 tons of 700 kilograms of this product. We aim to increase these figures in a short time with new investments.”
