BEKİR PAKDEMİRLİ: 50 THOUSAND TONS OF POTATO EXPORTS WILL BE ALLOWED

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli stated that the potatoes, whose exports are prioritized in order to avoid problems in domestic consumption, will be allowed for 50 thousand tons of export.

With the communiqué published by the Ministry of Commerce in the Official Gazette dated January 7, 2020, fresh or chilled potatoes, including nectarine and seed, were included in the forbidden and pre-authorized goods.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry did not impose any prohibition on exports by the said decision; He made the explanation that exports are prioritized in order to prevent supply deficit and fluctuate consumer prices by following the production, consumption, stock, needs and domestic-international market prices of our country regularly.


Pakdemirli said: “50 thousand tons of potato export will be allowed.”


There was a new development in the export of potatoes, which was bound by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli, who made a statement on his social media account, added:
“In the agriculture and food sector, we closely monitor the production, consumption and stock status and price changes in the market. With the start of potato harvest in Adana, Hatay and İzmir provinces, our domestic supply security has reached a strong level.

As of today, we are starting to give preliminary permission to export 50.000 tons of potatoes. As always, our aim is to protect the manufacturer, to protect our consumers.”
