AYŞİN IŞIKGECE: THERE IS A SHORTAGE OF FOOD IN 52 COUNTRIES

Stating that the rate of food consumption in the world is much faster than the rate of regeneration of the world, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ayşe Ayşin Işıkgece said that there is still a shortage of food in 52 countries across the world.

In his speech at the workshop, Işıkgece shared information about food consumption in Turkey and underlined that it is necessary to work together to prevent food waste and said:

“We expect the world population to reach 10 billion by 2050. We estimate the population ratio of our country to be 105 million. With the increasing population rate, we must make production in a healthy, efficient and balanced way. In order to meet the needs of this population growth, we need to over-produce 65 percent of our current food production,” Işıkgece added…
