Ali Fuat Gürle, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forestry Products Exporters’ Association, informed that they contributed 906 million dollars to Türkiye’s 8 billion dollars exports of furniture, paper and forestry products in 2023.
Noting that they serve three sub-sectors: furniture, paper and non-wood forest products, Gürle said, “While our exports of paper and paper products were 538 million dollars, our exports of non-wood forest products, including products such as laurel, oregano, linden, sage, rosemary, medicinal plants, acorns, were 103 million dollars in the same year.”
“The countries we exported the most in medicinal and aromatic plants, which we call non-wood forest products, were the USA, Germany and France, respectively. We export 94 percent of Türkiye’s oregano exports from the Aegean Region,” he added.
Pointing out that oregano is their strongest product within the export of non-wood forest products, he concluded, “Our main export markets in the paper sector are Iran, Egypt and the UK, while in the furniture sector, we exported mostly to Germany, the Netherlands and the USA in 2023 from the Aegean Region.”
