ALİ ÇANDIR: THE IMPORTANCE OF AGRICULTURE HAS BEEN UNDERSTOOD MUCH MORE IN THE PANDEMIC

Stating that the support allocated for agriculture is the same as the support for 2020 with 22 billion TL, Antalya Commodity Exchange Chairman Ali Çandır said, “While the agricultural sector has not been able to reflect the increasing costs on sales prices, it will be even more difficult in the upcoming period because it cannot get the necessary share from the supports.”

Antalya Commodity Exchange (ATB) November Assembly Meeting was held online due to the pandemic.

At the meeting, ATB Board Chairman Ali Çandır made statements about economic expectations, agriculture and the work of the Commodity Exchange during the pandemic period.

“We need to give the necessary support to agriculture”

Emphasizing that the importance of agriculture has been understood more both in our country and across the world during the pandemic period, Çandır noted, “All countries take their positions accordingly. As a society, we also need to give the necessary support to the strategic sector agriculture.”

Pointing out that the share allocated to agriculture in the 2021 budget negotiated in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) is 1.6 percent and that its share in the national income remains at 0.38 percent, Çandır added, “We always demand that 1 percent of the national income should be given to farmers as written in the law but now it seems to be a dream.”
