AGRIFOOD EXPORTS INCREASED, IMPORTS DECREASED IN JULY…

According to the Federation of Food and Drink Industry Associations of Turkey (TGDF) Digital Data Panel prepared by Agrimetre, in the first 7 months of 2020, the agriculture, food and beverage industry realized 11.37 billion dollars of exports and 9.26 billion dollars of imports.

According to the foreign trade data published in accordance with the General Trade System (GTS), exports increased by 5.9% in the first 7 months of 2020 compared to the same period of the previous year, while imports increased by 4.7%. In the first 6 months of the year, exports increased by 4.7% compared to the same period of the previous year, while imports increased by 7.6%. This showed that imports decreased and exports increased in the month of July compared to the first months of 2020.

Agriculture and food imports fell 18.9% in July…

On a monthly basis, imports decreased by 18.9% in July to 1.07 billion dollars, while monthly exports increased by 10.4% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 1.62 billion dollars. In June, exports increased by 40.5% to $ 1.68 billion compared to the same month of the previous year and imports increased by 34.4% to $ 1.52 billion.

In the first 7 months of 2020, the foreign trade balance of the sector increased by 11.6% to 2.11 billion dollars. The foreign trade balance in the first 6 months was 10.3% lower than the same period of the previous year. The decline in imports in July had a positive impact on the foreign trade balance.

While the export unit value was realized as 1,039 dollars / ton with an increase of 5.7% compared to the same period of the previous year in the first 7 months of 2020, the import unit value was realized as 489 dollars / ton with an increase of 1.3%.
