İzmir Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Directorate and Aegean Exporters’ Associations have decided to join forces to increase quality agricultural production and value added exports.
Aegean Exporters’ Associations, which export 5 billion dollars of agricultural products annually and İzmir Agriculture and Forestry Directorate will work together to increase the production and export of agricultural products in İzmir, which strives to increase the production and productivity of 146 thousand farmers in İzmir province.
Izmir Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Manager Mustafa Özen stated that there is no problem in agricultural production in İzmir, there is a marketing problem and the parties of the public and private sector should cooperate to overcome this problem.
Visiting the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, Özen met with the Coordinator of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, Jak Eskinazi and the Association Heads. Özen expressed that they are working to continue the production of 146 thousand farmer families in İzmir.
Özen noted, “Without our farmers, if they do not continue production, we will starve. If the farmer in the farthest neighborhood of Kiraz does not know the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture or does not know the outgoing service, there is a deficiency. We need to reach the farmer who lives in farthest areas and develop solutions to their problems.”
Expressing that he analyzed İzmir province in the field of agriculture after he took office, Özen added, “Municipalities, Chambers, Exchanges and Associations are working on agriculture. However, I have seen that there is no integrity in these studies. We are working to implement a project that will ensure this integrity and we will come to the point where we will share the details of the project with the public soon.”
During the visit of İzmir Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Manager Mustafa Özen to Aegean Exporters’ Associations; Aegean Dried Fruit and Products Exporters’ Association Chairman Birol Celep, Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association Hayrettin Uçak, Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association Chairman Davut Er and Aegean Exporters’ Association General Secretary İ. Cumhur İşbırakmaz took place.
