Türkiye, which is by far the world leader in Sultana raisin production and exports, started exporting sultanas in the 2022/23 season on 1 September 2022, reaching 110 countries and obtaining 426 million dollars. Raisin exports surged by 2 percent in terms of quantity and reached 251 thousand tonnes.
The 63rd International Seedless Raisin Producing Countries Conference was hosted by the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association with the participation of delegations from Argentina, Australia, Chile, South Africa, Türkiye and the USA.
At the meeting, Türkiye declared that with a yield of 246,346 tonnes, it will alone produce 22 percent of the world’s seedless raisin yield of 1 million 90 thousand tonnes. However, grape yield decreased by 23 percent compared to the 2022 crop.
The USA ranks second with a production of 200 thousand 274 tonnes, while China ranks third with a seedless raisin yield of 190 thousand tonnes. Other producing countries line up as India 145 thousand tonnes, Iran 95 thousand tonnes, Chile 60 thousand tonnes, South Africa 60 thousand tonnes, Argentina 35 thousand 500 tonnes, Uzbekistan 20 thousand tonnes, Australia 7 thousand 759 tonnes of raisin production…
